NGAU LEARNING GUIDE

How to Play Ngau

In each round of Ngau, you receive 5 cards. Your goal is to split them into 3 base cards and 2 point cards. First, make sure the base total is divisible by 10. Then maximize the point-hand strength.

1) Basic Round Flow

  1. Each player receives 5 cards.
  2. Pick 3 cards as the base and 2 cards as point cards.
  3. The base total must be divisible by 10. Otherwise the split is invalid.
  4. After a valid base is formed, evaluate the 2 point cards.

Quick Input Format

In this calculator, you can input cards like AS 3 6 8 K. You can also type 10 as 10.

Beginner Priorities

  1. First priority: form a valid base.
  2. Second priority: maximize the point-hand result.
  3. Third priority: check for special outcomes such as Pair and Niu Dong Gu.

Tip: If valid base combinations are hard to spot quickly, practice with the calculator for several rounds. Pattern recognition improves fast.

2) What Makes a Strong Result

The calculator compares outcomes by multiplier, then points, then kicker. This means special hands can rank above ordinary high points.
